Seniors save money on lift tickets for skiing and snowboarding, on the tube park, and even the renowned Ziptrek Ecotours

Skiers, snowboarders and even zipline enthusiasts who are 65 and older get good discounts at North America's largest mountain resort, Whistler Blackcomb.

Skiing and Snowboarding

A full-bore, one-day lift ticket for adults 19 through 64 bought at a ticket window at Whistler costs $83. But those who have already booked a trip to this British Columbia playground 2 1/2 hours north of Vancouver should start online, where senior lift tickets for many two-day periods in February are as little as $136.That's 20 percent off the regular senior freight and even lower than the walk-up price your younger friends will pay per day.

Tubing

Want to go tubing just for fun with your grandkids or friends in the Coca-Cola tube park at the Base II area of Blackcomb? Buy your ticket online and it will cost a senior just $11.32 for one hour. It's a blast to skid down the hill on a tube, especially when the light is too foggy for fearless skiing, or when you ache from having taken too many runs on these humungous hills the day before. Also, the tube park is open until 8 p.m. so it's an evening's entertainment.

Ziptrek Ecoours

How about whizzing through the air at speeds approaching 50 miles an hour while suspended high over the snow, passing close to the Douglas firs and other frees in the ancient rainforest that lines the valley above Fitzsimmons Creek between the two mountains? You can take an Eagle (longer) or a Bear tour for $78, $20 off the adult ticket price. Although the photos of zipping across the expanse of air look scary, the actual experience is extremely safe and enjoyable. You are connected to an overhead rope line via a thick, comfortable harness that allows you to hang hands free. Tour guides are stationed on platforms at either end and can slow you down for landing.

If you would rather keep your feet on the ground (or on something!) rather than go flying through the breeze, choose the TreeTrek Tour instead. For seniors, this walk through the rainforest canopy on suspension bridges, snow paths and ladders is just $29. All the Ziptrek Ecotours include introductions to the ecology of the forest from experts, plus all the gear you might need including boots. The only requirement is an adventurous spirit, and, for zipline tours, a body weight of 70 pounds or more. Ziptrek tours fill up fast, so those planning to go to Whistler should book as far ahead online as possible.

Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa

Maybe you just want to get a massage and a soothing body rub. There are numerous spa facilities at Whistler Blackcomb but subscribe to the Allura direct newsletter and you get 10% off the cost of a Javanese massage or a Lulur Body Srub at the Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa in the Summit Lodge.
