Massachusetts Vacation Mecca Offers 10 % Discount with BerkShares

The popular southern Berkshires region of Western Massachusetts has nifty discounts for seniors and others at local arts, entertainment, shops, resorts and spas.

Seniors and others who visit such storied Berkshire villages as Great Barrington, Lenox and Stockbridge can get a 10 % discount by buying BerkShares, a currency designed to aid local arts and businesses, according to the Berkshire Visitors Bureau.

Purchase BerkShares in selected local banks during regular bank hours. (Some restrictions may apply.) For every $9, buyers get $10 in BerkShares; to spend on such iconic attractions as: the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Becket and the Barrington Stage Company, which presents its theater productions in Pittsfield.

Seniors may purchase discounted tickets for as we; the Barrington Stage Company and Shakespeare & Company, another distinguished theatrical organization in Lenox.

Bargains at Legendary Spa

How about a discount vacation for a mother and daughter (or father and son) at the famed Canyon Ranch resort and spa in Lenox? From May 1 through November 30, when a parent and child age 14 or older share an accommodation, one pays full package rate with package services included, and the other enjoys great savings with a stay of three or more nights. The first child saves 25 percent off the nightly rate and receives a $120 allowance toward services.

Canyon Ranch also offers a 15 % new-guest package stay discount to friends on their first Canyon Ranch excursion who share accommodations of at least 3 nights during the summer with its “Two New, Too Terrific” program.
